Humans can tell the difference between dogs and cats

asirra.jpgThis is so cool.

As an anti-spam gizmo and an alternative to the often illegible CAPTCHA (those distorted letters and numbers), some animal-loving Microsoft Reseach developers have created Asirra.

With Asirra, you have to pick out the cats amidst the dogs. The animal images on this system come from the database of Petfinder.com. So, all of these critters are in need of a home. If you click on the "adopt me" link under one of the photos, you'll be taken that animal's page on the Petfinder site.

Learn more about it in my story for the No More Homeless Pets Community on the Best Friends Network.

Go here to download Asirra for free.
